Renewal lead-time guidance
- STCW / COC revalidation: start ~3–6 months before expiry (qualifying sea service or an approved refresher under STCW Reg. I/11).
- ENG1 / PEME medical: valid for a maximum of 2 years (1 year if under 18) per MLC 2006 A1.2 — book ~2–3 months out.
- Passport: keep at least 6 months' validity; many flags and ports refuse joiners below that threshold.
- Flag endorsement (CRD) cannot outlast the underlying COC — renew the COC first.
